Saved Thus Far (an original poem)
Thank you God – but I’ve got it from here,
You’ve set the course – now let me steer.
You saved me, yes, I know that story,
But let me grasp some of the glory
And so say that I have also saved
My worthy self from the grave
And then I won’t owe you my all
Because I stood up from the Fall
You can save me almost all the way
But let me step into Judgement Day
Because your creature must be free
And I must owe some of Heaven to me…
… says the fool.
Oh my sins and weakness make my spirit groan
You Lord must save me – and you alone
… says the child of God.
an original poem.
