The Lion And The Lamb

When we think of Jesus we must hold in our minds both the humble carpenter’s son from Nazareth AND the eternal King from Heaven. We must keep before us the horror and shame of Christ on the cross AND the power of His resurrection from the grave, the magnificence of His ascension to the throne of God and the sure promise of His imminent return. He is and always will be the sacrificial lamb – he will always bear the wounds of his love – but he is also the Lion – the rider on the white horse with blazing eyes and a two-edged sword. Never take him for granted, but trust him utterly and love him ultimately – anything else is folly.
